is it allowed to start the model plane engine in a clockwise rotation?
the model plane engine i saw was started by spinning its propeller to run.
Dont have my engine to hand so cant be 100% that it is clockwise but im pretty sure it is.
Model aircraft engines are started by rotating the prop, this is because they are too small to have starter motors or magnetos like real engines have.
It cannot be started without first being primed though. Insert the glow plug first. Turn the prop slowly two or three times until you see a little fuel coming into the engine. Then attach your glow plug charger, this will heat the glowplug. Now you are ready to start. (this bit can be dangerous) You need to turn the propellor very quickly. DO NOT USE YOUR FINGERS FOR THIS, you will lose one of them.
Most people use a high torque electric starter or even a drill with the right attachtment would do. This basically just turns the prop quickly without risking your fingers.
Alternatively you could use a ‘chicken stick’ This is just using a stick to push the prop rather than your fingers.
I use a fiberglass reinforced propellor which would cut through your fingers like butter

There is no doubt that radio controlled aircraft is the king of the RC community. Flying a radio controlled plane is exhilarating and very challenging. If you want to have your own radio controlled model plane, all you need to do is to browse different RC hobby websites to find the right aircraft. Unfortunately, it is not easy to choose the best RC plane. There are lots of models available for you and choosing the best one can be very confusing. To make your search simpler, consider these important guidelines when buying a radio controlled aircraft.
When selecting a radio controlled plane, wing design and wing span are two very important factors that you need to consider. To ensure that your radio controlled model plane will be very stable in mid-flight, always choose a model that has a high wing design. You will never encounter much difficulty in controlling your plane if it has a high wing design. This type is usually best for beginners. The wing span also contributes greatly to the maneuverability of the model plane. You should choose RC planes that have approximately 30 to 50 inches of wing span. This is the optimum size especially for beginners. Smaller planes are very difficult to see in mid-air and suitable if you have advanced RC flying skills. On the other hand, a plane with a much bigger wing span above 50 inches is very difficult to handle.
Another important point that you need to consider is the ease of assembly. If you lack modeling skills or if you do not have enough patience to build your own aircraft, then it would be best to avoid unassembled kits. Your best option is a ready to fly (RTF) radio controlled plane. RTF radio controlled model plane comes out of the box with everything you need. It is also fully assembled and you can get it airborne immediately after purchase. A ready to fly model plane minimizes your frustrations because you will never have to worry about proper assembly. Most importantly, RTF planes fly excellently because their designs and structural configurations are perfectly balanced. If you are still learning to fly a radio controlled plane and you do not have the time to assemble it, you should always choose RTF models.
Durability and state of the art features should be considered also. There is always the possibility of crashing your radio controlled plane especially if you are a first time flyer. So it would be best to select a crash-proof radio controlled model plane. You can choose a model made from durable foam. Flexible wings are also more durable than rigid wooden wings. For advanced features, it is best if you can choose a model that is equipped with anti crash technology. An ATC is an electronic sensor that can detect the altitude of the plane in relation to the horizon. If the sensor detects trouble or if you lose control, then the anti crash technology will kick-in automatically to stabilize the plane thus preventing a fatal crash.
