I need an intense workout routine to get in great shape in a month for softball!?
I’ve been off the field for a little over a year now and I’m staring back up in the Spring of 2009. I’m a pitcher/DH and I need an intense workout routine to get me in great shape by Jan. 12, 2009. Something along the lines of sprints, Leg workouts, shoulders and back! Thanks and I appreciate the feedback!

Sprints:
12 sprints for 30 yards
Distance:
12 minute run > 1.5 miles

I can’t get too specific with a weight training routine because I don’t know you and I don’t know your limits, strengths, and weaknesses…but here are a few things to play with.
In sets of 3s:
dumb bell lunges
squats
bench press
bicep curls with dumb bells
calf raises (on a step or something)
wrist curls with dumb bells
tricep extensions
incline bench press

Can you get in really great shape swimming?
Have you gotten into shape this way? I want to get my body into top shape and am considering a gym membership where I can swim at least an hour a day. I already to 30 minutes of strength training every other day. Is the money worth it?
swimming is a great work out and way to get into shape. You use the entire body when swimming. for your work out to be successful though, you must concentrate on each part of the body
dont just swim laps, make sure you vary between types of stroke and swim styles
do laps where you use just your arms, and then ones that use only your legs.
last but not least, when swimming, set a specific lap time that it would take and stick to that and push your self. i usually do 35 second to a 50 yard swim. so i swim from one end to the other and back. if i beat 35, i rest til that 35 secs is up, and then start again. do 10 reps of these and you’ll begin to feel everything working..
