How do I figure out square footage of a cylinder tank?
I have a chemical tank that i need to coat on the inside with a resin. I need to figure out how much of the resin i need to cover the inside of the tank. I dont need to know the square footage of the tank rather the amount of wall space i need to coat.
Tank is 20′ high with a diameter of 16′.
Can someone please assist me in figuring out the square footage of the walls.

Area of the walls = 2pi r h = 2×3.14x 8 x20 =1004.8 ft^2
Area of top or bottom = pi r^2 = 3.14 x 64 = 200.96 ft^2
Area of top + bottom = 2×200.96 = 401.92 ft^2
Total surface area = 1004.8 + 401.92 = 1406.72 ft^2

Resin Kit model building?
I want to try building putting together and painting some resin figures from model kits. Exactly what are some good (and preferably low cost) basic tools I can use,and where can I buy them?
Any tool that can be used on a metal model (except for soldering iron) can be used on resin models. Look up on the internet and see if you have a place called Harborfreight near you (they have a website). Harborfreight is cheaply made stuff, but can be good for files, brushes, exacto-knife sets (go on sale frequently), and other odds and ends. The stuff isn’t made for models but usually the stuff is of too poor a quality to use on mealt for an extended time…but it REALLY cheap if you have a store near you and you want to look in person.
IF you are willing to buy online I like surplus dealers. My favorite is american science and surplus ( http://www.sciplus.com/). It sells surplus stuff ans stuff with errors (a 8 brush set with 7 brushes for 20%of Original cost), lots of nice file sets ( I use a set of rifler files, standard needle files, diamond dust coated files, and a diamond reamer set (for round files), and other tools it all depends on what they have in the warehouse. Most things just have misprints on them or case damaged, and the catalog has a cheerfully comedic writer/editor, ad the description are excactly what you will get! That’s really rare. Items frequently also have photos, and shipping price is good. You never know what you will find though.
Are you including paints as tools? IF so you can use car primer ($3-$7) instead of the expensive model base coats ($25 and up) you get from the model paint companies. Clear acrylic paint for sealing in the topcoat is cheapest usually in Walmart, along with talc/talcum powder and Future brand floor finish(mixed together into a paste they are the same chemically as the fill putty they sell in modeling shops…you just have get use to mixing it up.
