Officers: How often do you use your badge off duty?
I think the inside term is to “tin” right? The other day I was in grocery store and saw an old friend who is a cop. He used the quick checkout line and the the cashier asked to see his ID, and he very nonchalantly flashed his badge. Do you guys do this often off duty, no matter the situation?
He was actually with his wife and young child, and they are a relatively young couple. But the wife seemed to find it funny.
(The reason he used the badge was because it was a self checkout machine and he was purchasing alchohol, a cashier asked for ID and he simple showed his badge).
VERY VERY rarely – and then only when I have to.
Too many officers use the badge/ID as a way to gain special favors – which, in my opinion, is unethical. Since they are typically held to a higher standard, they should treat it as such.

police hold their office.. 24 hours a day. this is regardless of their working hours. They took an oath to do this. If they saw something unsafe or illegal they probably have an obligation to do their duty.
