I feel really constipated – what to take?

well i’m open to nearly putting anything in my body except for another man’s johnson if you catch my drift, but since lately i’ve been feeling totally constipated and feel blocked up like a fuel tank in a 1955 chevrolet bel-air with a clogged fuel filter, I feel like i’ll take anything to relieve myself. What do you guys recommend to make my digestive system healthier and more efficient?

With constipation your diet is most likely the culprit. What it means is that the foods you are eating is not supporting your digestive system like your liver and gut. Liver function plays a very important role in constipation because it is the liver that produces bile if there is insufficient amount of bile being produced due to a sluggish liver your bowel movements will be affected as bile has a natural laxative effect and also is necessary for the breaking down of fats. You must consume foods rich in fibre such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, cereals etc, refined white flours and processed foods have the opposite effect they become like glue in the gut that causes constipation and bloating. Exercise and plenty of water are essential factors for normal bowel function and for good general health. To stimulate your liver every morning before you eat or drink anything have a full glass of water with lemon juice (fresh juice) followed by another full glass of water preferably warm water to stimulate bowel movement. You can also have a tablespoon of flaxseed oil with the lemon water this will also stimulate bowel movement as well as providing omega 3 to your body, an essential fatty acid very important for the health of many systems in the body. Yogurt is also very good for normal bowel movement as is having ground flaxseed with your breakfast cereal every morning. Avoid drinking tea as this causes constipation. Vitamin B complex also supports liver function and helps with constipation.

In a nutshell eat lots of fruits (include dry fruits such as prunes) , vegies, wholemeal cereals, grains, seeds, nuts, yogurt, fresh fruit juices, drink 2-3litres of water a day, exercise daily, drink you lemon water before breakfast, avoid junk processed foods, and take a B complex supplement, you will feel the difference in a very short time. If you feel desperate and cannot open your bowels try a herbal laxative mix from the health food store but only take it occasionally as taking laxatives on a regular basis is very harmful as your bowels will become used to them and will stop functioning without them (habit forming).
